GENERALS OF THE SEVENTIES

"Generals of the 70-s" media project is a series of set photographs – double portraits of topical personas of "city art scene", inspired bohemians, real "defenders of the landscape" presented as Soviet high brass of the 70-s. Young, brilliant generals of the Great Soviet Empire.

Authors of the project seek not for a literal "chronicle" stylization but for creation of images which are art objects and also promotion tools. The works reflect the moment of the highest prosperity of the Empire, borrowing its discreet chic and its scale as well as emblematic "fetishes" of the time. They create reconstructed historical atmosphere as if the story of the Great Empire had never been aborted, with its vertical values and traditions preserved and its territorial integrity only enlarged by new geopolitical victories.
